Yes. if the music isn't registered, then I think the film is likely PD with the music. Video-Cellar uploaded a silent with PD music, as I remember. I don't think any of my silents use unregistered music.
I can take or leave music on silent movies. Frankly, half the time the added music just isn't a very good fit. I've read others suggest elsewhere that you play some of your favorite classical music with soundless silent movies, or instead of the music used.
Adding an audio track is simple on my Mac, with QuickTime 7 Pro. Other than that, I can't help you.
